One of the favorite verses that Christians go to when speaking about tithing is Malachi 3:10. Some use this to educate, and some to manipulate. We don't take donations, and don't want your money. We do want you to hear God's words and know his principles. Even better is to know him and become one of His children. (Just because you can use His principles, does not mean you follow Him)

I heard this insight years ago, and it has stuck with me. There are many verses on how being a giver will, in turn, be a blessing to you. If God hadn't wanted you to understand this, He wouldn't have taught it this way. He could have just said 'give' and left it at that. When Jesus taught, he explained the Kingdom of God and often in parables.

Here are today's thoughts using Malachi 3, starting in verse 8: “Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the entire nation of you! 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and put Me to the test now in this,” says the Lord of armies, “if I do not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. 11 Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruit of your ground; nor will the vine in the field prove fruitless to you,” says the Lord of armies. 12 “All the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the Lord of armies.

Why would he pour blessings out through windows and not doors? Windows are for looking through. Could one of the ways God is looking to bless you is to have you see? Are you giving and not receiving? Maybe God is opening windows for you to look into. If you look, He might be showing you things and giving you opportunities. We believe God desires to be a good father who not only gives us good things but also walks beside us, helping us obtain wisdom and insight. Solomon asked for wisdom, and God gave him wisdom that came along with great wealth and power.

We encourage you to give, and percentage giving is how he instructed His people. Give generously with a cheerful heart and open your eyes to see the opportunities He will open for you.
